CHEF-TO-COMMUNITY TAX CREDIT
A win-win solution for restaurants and communities
Rethink Food is leading a coalition of mission-driven restaurants, businesses and elected officials to advance a groundbreaking tax credit to reshape the fight against food insecurity.
Our proposal empowers food establishments nationwide to serve nutritious, chef-prepared meals to food-insecure neighbors while providing tax credits that help sustain and grow their businesses.
New York State Tax Credit Program
Provide restaurants with up to $10,000 per year, per location for donated meals
Federal Tax Credit Program
Provide restaurants with up to $50,000 per year, per location for donated meals.
Capped at $800 million nationwide
Shared impact:
✔ Create jobs and boost local economies
✔ Bring delicious, healthy, dignified meals to communities in need
✔ Save taxpayer dollars through the efficient use of existing infrastructure
Rethink Food has launched a pilot partnership with The Hive at 21c Bentonville, bringing our tax credit model to life in Northwest Arkansas for the first time.
Led by Executive Chef Micah Klasky and Rethink Food’s Culinary Director Ken Baker, The Hive is preparing and donating weekly, chef-made meals to Second Street Pantry over an eight-week period.
This collaboration demonstrates how the proposed tax credit can empower restaurants to:
Provide high-quality, nutritious meals to neighbors in need.
Partner with local organizations to address food insecurity.
Strengthen community ties through chef-driven solutions.
