The Community Kitchen: In-house sustainable food service hub

Rethink Food’s Community Kitchen has existed since 2017, providing over 1.7 million community meals across New York City.

Each week, our Trucking team picks up ~11,500 lbs of food donations and brings them to our Commissary Kitchen, where our Culinary team transforms them into 15,000 nutritious, dignified meals. Our Trucking team then delivers them to a dozen community-based organizations at no cost to serve their local neighbors.

For us, a meal is not just a meal—it's a conscious culinary experience meant to serve our neighbors with dignity and respect.

VOLUNTEER WITH US! Volunteers are an essential part of Rethink Food’s work and mission. Sign up here to assist our talented culinary team and see our work in action firsthand.

Our sustainable Community Kitchen embodies our mission of successfully repurposing excess food into nutritious meals. We're constantly trying to reach, educate, and engage new supporters in our unique approach to serving our local community. This new space focuses on our community-driven program and directly sharing our work with you.
