More than 38 million people in the U.S. lack reliable access to nutritious meals. Meanwhile, 108 billion pounds of food go uneaten — the equivalent of 40% of the country’s food supply. There is enough food in the system, but it's not getting into the hands of those who need it. Rethink Food exists to bridge that gap.

Since 2017, Rethink Food has prepared more than 14.8 million meals for local communities and rescued 2.1+ million pounds of excess food.

RETHINK PARTNERS

RESTAURANTS

Rethink Food partners with a nationwide network of restaurants and food establishments to prepare nutritious meals for those facing food insecurity.

MAKE MEALS: Funded by Rethink Food, restaurants prepare meals for their local communities. Eighty percent of partner restaurants are minority- or women-owned or led businesses.

FUNDRAISE: Integrate fundraising with your diners’ experience, through donations on each check. Donations directly provide meals to communities impacted by food insecurity, by supporting meal-maker restaurants and Rethink Food initiatives.

EXCESS FOOD

Rethink Food works with partners throughout the food ecosystem to rescue their excess food and transform it into community meals.

SUSTAINABLE COMMISSARY KITCHEN: Collected, donated food products are transformed into delicious, culturally celebrated, and wholesome meals by our team of chefs. Donated items are also transformed into preservation products that include soups, stews, jams, beverages, and more.

FOOD DONORS & PICKUP: Rethink Food collects perfectly good excess food from brands, hospitality groups, grocers and more to upcycle into nutritious meals for communities.
